The inauguration last week was great. I watched t.v. on Tuesday for about 13 hours straight. Somewhat outrageous. But, I enjoyed President Obama's poignant inauguration speach. Below are some quotes.
"That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet."
"On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord."
"Our workers are no less productive than when this crisis began. Our minds are no less inventive, our goods and services no less needed than they were last week or last month or last year. Our capacity remains undiminished. But our time of standing pat, of protecting narrow interests and putting off unpleasant decisions — that time has surely passed. Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of remaking America."
America is in a panic. It's pretty stupid, and the President's words were very pointed at the nation. Yes, the crisis started out with some bad decisions in the financial market, but now it's further than that. Unemployment is at nearly 10% in several states. So, what is the advise from CNBC?

Inauguration and Break
Sunday, January 11
Almost done with the break.
It's January 11th. Where has time gone? I've been home now since December 19th (minus a few days in Arkansas and Oklahoma), and haven't had a class or final since December 17th. Almost a month. I'm just bursting at the seams to get back to my life at home--i mean school.
Break has been great. It's been my only break (except for a few days before school started) where i've done nothing at all since last Christmas break. Over the summer I worked in Admissions for 6 weeks, then in Jordan for 7 weeks, London a week, then the semester started.
I wanted to do so much--but I did so little. I sat on my parents' couch for hours just watching tv. I didn't finish reading Invisible Man like I wanted to do. I hung out with friends approximately 3 nights in three weeks. I watched a lot of football. I saw two movies (by myself) in the theaters--I'm lame. I did 9 loads of laundry. I watched tv in the living room. I watched tv in the new "home theater room" in the basement. I watched tv in my bedroom. I went for drives around town when I needed air. I intervened in some fights between my mom and sisters. I got in some shouting matches myself. I drove to Siloam Springs, Rogers, back to Siloam, and Tulsa. I went to church with my parents a few times. I stayed up late. I slept in till approximately 2pm every day. I spent money. I made no money at all. I ate Gambino's. I sat with my computer on my lap for ~90% of the time I was awake. I got pulled over by a cop in Webb City--thankfully, no ticket. I spent $27.30 at K-Mart on a Planet Earth DVD game that was pretty fun. I celebrated Christmas.
Overall, a good break from school. But now I'm ready for some whirling-fast school to happen again... and to live in an apartment starting in May.
